Why AKPsi?
Dear Student,
Cal is a big place, and it's easy to feel as if you are just a face in a large crowd. But there are many professional fraternities and clubs which can be your "home" in the University. By joining a group such as Alpha Kappa Psi, you'll have an instant network of peers and alumni who've faced the same challenges as you and who are ready to help you withyour career. You'll get an opportunity for leadership and a place where you can develop your professional skills. I encourage you to consider joining a group which you find to be a good match for your personal style. You'll find your investment in the organization will be rewarded many times over.

Four Reasons to Rush
#1 - Brotherhood
As with any other Greek organization, Alpha Kappa Psi is founded on brotherhood. Members form meaningful friendships with a multitude of people, from fellow students to faculty to local business leaders. To strengthen and encourage our bond, we have social and brotherhood events. Some examples of our brotherhood activities include ski trips, retreats to Santa Cruz and Lake Tahoe, BBQs, rock climbing, banquets, mountain biking, road trips, and inter-chapter socials throughout the Bay Area.
#2 - Professional Development
When one joins Alpha Kappa Psi, he or she joins an elite group of professionals who are committed to keeping their skills sharp and their careers on track. By providing network access to professionals including our own alumni, brothers of AKPsi meet and develop a network of ambitious, principled, and dynamic leaders of the community and professional world. Alpha Kappa Psi's professional events help prepare its members to enter the professional world by establishing long lasting relationships with contacts and by providing the skills and knowledge necessary to become successful in future endeavors. Some of our events include: Spring 2000 Cal Internship Fair, Company and industry presentations by prestigious public accounting, investment banking, and consulting firms. Business Etiquette Workshops, Case presentations, Resume / Cover Letter Workshops, and Financial Investments Workshops.
#3 - Experience
A main focus of Alpha Kappa Psi is to provide leadership development, personal and professional training, and the fundamental ingredient higher education is experience. By developing a program of presentations, educational programs, community service, and a hands-on application of their formal education, AKPsi brothers use the business skills they are taught in the classroom to acquire life skills such as the art of compromise, consensus building, project management, team building and networking.
#4 - Community Service
For Alpha Kappa Psi, giving back to society is a crucial aspect of our agenda. We actively seek opportunities to better our community and volunteer our services. This is not only enriching, but also a way for us to interact and encourage the flow of communication amongst our brothers and with those around us. Several of our past community service activities have included: Glide Memorial Soup Kitchen in SF, YMCA Haunted House in Oakland, SF Food Bank, Eggster Easter Egg Hunt, and the Berkeley Marina Beach cleanup.
