Mission Statement

To affect long lasting, large scale social impact by utilizing the professional talents and knowledge of members of Alpha Kappa Psi, Alpha Beta Chapter to assist promising local nonprofit organizations to achieve their goals through effective, well-defined, sustainable, and creative approaches.

Secondly, to create real-world opportunities for members of Alpha Kappa Psi to enhance their professional ability to define business problems, isolate critical issues, develop approaches to solutions, establish credibility to clients, and deliver valuable results.

Purpose of αβ Consulting

Alpha Beta Consulting (ABC) is a student consulting group founded by Alpha Kappa Psi, Alpha Beta Chapter's Service Committee in 2002. It was created as an effort to revamp the fraternity's community involvement and professional caliber by combining professional service with community service. ABC offers pro bono consulting services in management, strategy, technology, finance, tax, human resources and other areas to assist promising local nonprofit organizations to address pressing social problems. The rationale behind ABC's creation is a two-fold benefit: 1) well-structured, business-minded approaches to social problems will create a more lasting and effective difference in our community, and 2) the opportunity to work with real world clients and business problems will provide our members unparalleled experience to enhance their professional skills and become familiar with the process of business consulting.

For the benefit of our community and brothers of Alpha Kappa Psi, members are put in a team structure and environment that mimics those of professional service firms. ABC members work on tasks typical of a real world project: isolating the critical issues of a business problem, developing a structured approach to the solution, conducting research and survey to gather data, performing analysis on the data, coming up with meaningful conclusions, and finally developing recommendations for the client. As the consulting industry increasingly focuses on solution implementation, ABC also offers the opportunity to implement its recommendation, especially in the area of technology. These skills are highly valued by many professional service firms and will prepare members recruiting for various professional service firms. Ultimately, members will be creating a lasting and large-scale impact to better our community in some of its most pressing issues while gaining these invaluable experiences.
